ABOUT TINY BEAR JAWS

Founded in 2015, Tiny Bear Jaws is an agile, femme and queer-run cross-Canadian theatre company.

We produce innovative, provocative, and engaging new works.

We believe two heads are better than one.

We love experimenting with technology and uncovering new ways for design and story to influence each other during new play development processes.

We’re passionate about learning more about implementing alternatives to anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and anti-hierarchical organizational structures.

We’re committed to engaging meaningfully with the communities with whom we share our work and providing hands-on mentorship opportunities for under-represented emerging artists.

We’re committed to exploring the creative possibilities that exist exclusively in live performance and creating theatre that’s transgressive in content and form: from our site-specific Everyone We Know Will Be There: A House Party in One Act (a site-specific play with multiple main characters which took place in a residential house) to Cleave (one of the first main stage, multi-character shows in Edmonton to feature a trans actor in a leading role) to our award-winning Miss Katelyn’s Grade Threes Prepare for the Inevitable (an elementary school teacher instructs her class, played by the audience, how to survive a school shooting). We produce queer sketch comedy troupe Gender? I Hardly Know Them’s live shows, and are currently organizing a national tour.

Every holiday season from 2016-2019, we produced our Annual Holiday Micro-Play Reading Night: a showcase of new plays that feature Edmonton theatre-makers at all stages of their careers.

We don’t know what brought you, but we’re happy you’re here.
